URBAN 2022: “New Buildings” special prize is back, promoted with Matrix4Design
For the third year in a row URBAN Photo Awards hosts the New Buildings special prize, the result of the partnership with Italian digital magazine Matrix4Design!
New Buildings is dedicated to contemporary architectural photography, and in particular to the icons of architecture that have changed the face of cities over the last ten years. New and brand new buildings, fruit of the visionary genius of the archistars, who redesign the skyline of big cities and renew the face of the neighborhoods.
To enter, just flag the “New Buildings” tag in the Single Pictures section, SPACES category. Submissions open until May 31, 2022.
“We are very happy to confirm the partnership with URBAN Photo Awards for 2022 as well,” said the editor of Matrix4Design, Andrea Boni. “The Matrix4Design Special Prize offers us the opportunity to enhance the talent of photographers who travel the world with the aim of immortalizing the iconic contemporary architecture, transmitting its charm through high-impact photographic shots. We can’t wait to find out what this year’s proposals will be.”
Boni will be again in the URBAN jury to select the photos and draw up the New Buildings shortlist (30 photos), which will be announced at the end of June. The subsequent ranking of the Finalists, will be announced at the end of July.
Finalist images will be on display in Milan, Italy, at a venue that we will announce shortly. The exhibition will be part of the Photo Days Tour 2022 calendar, a series of events taking place outside the city during the Trieste Photo Days festival.
In September we will announce the winning photo, which will be displayed and awarded in Trieste at the Winners’ exhibition of URBAN Photo Awards (end of October, during the Trieste Photo Days). A selection of the best photos of New Buildings will also be published in the photographic volume URBAN unveils the City and its secrets – Vol. 08, which will contain the best of the 2022 contest.
The author of the winning shot will receive an Amazon voucher of € 300 and will be hosted for 2 nights in Trieste during Trieste Photo Days, to attend the Awards Ceremony.
In 2021, New Buildings saw photographer Francesca Pompei triumph with the shot Sharada #4, while the 2020 edition was won by Rebeka Legovic.
Matrix4Design, which shares the feeling and approach to the world of art and photography with URBAN Photo Awards, was born in 2016 from the will of Editrice Industriale. It’s a magazine based on the originality of the contents and on the ability to approach readers with a counter-current attitude. Over the years, Matrix4Design has established itself as a reference point for the world of architecture and design, able to tune in real time with the new design trends and to look at the changes in the urban landscape with curious and attentive eyes. A showcase aimed at professionals in the sector and beyond, to look at to find the connection between design and architecture, between the product and its application, between the aesthetic aspect and the concreteness of the “laid”.
